NCIS (2003)

One of the ways to relax after a hard days work or when the weather outside turns against you is watching TV series. I have a short list of series that I watch and I’m always looking forward to the next episode.

With all the variety on TV these days there are only a few shows that I consider to be worth my time. Everyone and his dog think they can act or write a screenplay these days so the quality of tv shows and series overall is dropping but luckily there still are a few that are really worth watching. Entertaniment in not dead yet 🙂

NCIS stands for Naval Criminal Investigative Service. As you can guess it’s a criminal investigation series that revolves around the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps so all the action is basically concentrated on these braches of the U.S. Armed Forces.

It’s one of the most appreciated series in America and Europe, from what I know. I also can see why, I always watch the episodes with great interest.

We have a team of NCIS agents who are asigned murder cases in almost every episode. They are professional and their ways of solving a murder is not as far fetched as in other criminal investigation series. The way they handle a “dead marine case” is quite realistic.

Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) is the Special Agent in charge of his team. He’s an ex sniper, has an interesting past which piece by piece we find along the 9 existent seasons and is like a father figure to some of his work colleagues. Well trained, appreciated and known for his great skills he’s perfect for the role of the “Boss”, as the team calls him.

Anthony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) is the “very special agent” who works under Gibbs. An ex police officer and detective, joins NCIS he is considerred to be a “young Gibbs”, because of his high level skills and profesionalism. Of course, no team is without flaws. DiNozzo is quite the womanizer and he doesn’t miss the chance to tease his fellow companions every chance he gets.

Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette) works forensics. She is “the happiest goth you’ll ever meet” and is one of the most skilled forensics you can find in such TV series. Determined, funny and coffee addicted would be my way of describing her.

Timothy McGee (Sean Murray) is the computer forensic and aso works as a field agent. He joins the team later, at the end of the 2nd season and is helping the team solve cases ever since.

Ziva David (Cote de Pablo) is at first a Mossad Agent at first (seasons 2 to 6) and later on becomes a special agent herself. She joins the team by replacing agent Todd and soon manages to earn her colleagues trust and simpaty. She’s tough and shows no sign of weakness whatsoever. Agent Ziva David is sort of a role model for strong women, well trained and fearless.

Caitlin Todd (Sasha Alexander) only appears the first two seasons, she was recruited from the U.S. Secret Service and joined NCIS. Skilled agent who eventually gets replaced by agent David.

These are the main characters who have a special bond. There’s a time to solve crime and a time to tease eachother and test one another’s boundaries. They all have a story to tell beside the main plot so the series really keeps you intrigued.

We have other members of NCIS as well, who I’ll let you discover for yourselves if you are not already watching the series. Up until now there are 9 complete seasons, with the 10th on it’s way. I hope to have caught your interest, it really is one of the few great tv series out there.
