How many times do we get up in the morning and feel that time goes by to fast and we rush out thet door with an empty stomach?
I know it happens to me a lot, those “5 more minutes” spent laying in bed are so comfortable, but then I don’t even have time to make coffee so there goes a healthy breakfast!
There’s no time to prepare a sandwich or even make toast (mainly because i’m to lazy to get up 20 minutes earlier, but that’s another story).
I remember when i was a little girl, my mom used to prepare a nice hot cup of cocoa and biscuits on the side for my sister and I. Those were happy days and, also, biscuits make a good breakfast.
Easy to bake and they last for a few days, homemade biscuits are also healthier than the bought ones (well, duuh..) and you can add chocolate, marmalade, dried fruit or whatever to your taste.
1 spoon of baking powder
1/2 pound of butter (or 1/4 kg.)
2 cups of flour
sugar (1 or 2 cups… as much as you like)
How to bake the biscuits:
1. Beat the egg whites to get a foam (add a pinch of salt, it helps).
2. Add the flour, the yolks, the baking powder and at last, the butter. Mix well (add flour if the dough is too sticky or too liquid)
3. Add flavors to your taste: vanilla flavor, grated lemon peel (or orange) or whatever you like. You can also leave them plain, they are just as good.
4. Baking time!
Put small amounts of biscuit dough on your baking tray and make sure you use baking paper so they won’t stick. Let them bake for at least 8-10 minutes or until they look ready.
Tip: they taste better if you make a chocolate sauce (melt some chocolate with 1-2 spoons of milk) and dip them in it or even cover the biscuits in chocolate.
Remember, having a healthy breakfast is important, but don’t forget about your other meals 😉
